HEAD COACH JOSH MACY

Josh Macy joined the Lindenwood coaching staff as men's rugby head coach in September 2016.  He brings over 15 years of collegiate and international coaching and playing experience to the position.

The Fredericksburg, Virginia native came to Lindenwood from Springfield, Massachusetts, where he was the Director of Rugby and Men's Head Coach at American International College, developing both the men's and women's programs from scratch.  He compiled a 57-11 record in men's 15's play, was the East Coast Rugby Conference (ECRC) Coach of the Year in 2013, led the squad to three ECRC Championships, two ACRC Bowl Championships, and the American Rugby 2015 College Team of the Year.  He has a 110-24-3 record in 7's competition and directed the squad to nine tournament cup championships and three ECRC titles.

Macy was a founding member of the Asociacion Guatemalteca de Rugby and developed the sport in Guatemala, beginning in 2007, preparing the national squad for its first two international competitions.

His resume includes many other coaching positions and education, including head coach at the US Collegiate Development Camp and coach at the West Point Summer Rugby Camp.  He was a head scout for USA Collegiate All-American D1AA, assistant coach at the University of Maryland – Baltimore County, and featured coach at the Atavus Boston Training Camp.  He holds USA Rugby Level 300 Coaching Certification, and is a Positive Coaching Alliance Certified Coach.  He is a two-time Atavus 7's Coaching Clinic participant, a Bulldog Rugby National Coaching participant, and current Atavus Webinar participant.

Macy's playing days began in college at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where he was a member of the Division I team for four years.  After graduation, he played for the Division II Richmond Lions and the Austin Huns. After moving to Guatemala, he started and captained the country's first club team, Xela RFC, and soon after, started a league.  Macy was the captain of the Guatemalan National Team for its first six matches against Costa Rica, Panama, and Venezuela. After returning to the United States, in 2009, he turned his focus more to coaching while picking up the occasional social match or tour with the Springfield Rifles and the Harvard Business School RFC.

Macy earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Studies from James Madison University, and earned a Master's of Public Administration from American International College.

He is supported and joined by his wife Lorrie (Texas A & M '03) and infant son Levi.
